Torque Arena is a tabletop miniatures sport game (MSG fuyioh!) set in a post-collapse solarpunk world. In this setting, Torque is a full contact sport where rival crews of seekers vie for control of a mechanical contraption, the eponymous "torque ball”, in order to "sunder" the opponent's Totem.

  • Brutal Sport
    Tackles hit hard, pushing rivals away and down into the ground. Holding on to the torque takes guts and determination. Still, all out combat and disorderly brawling are not the focus of gameplay. What really wins the day are highly dynamic movement and risky but rewarding teamwork maneuvers.
  • Fast & Dynamic
    A full bout takes around 60 minutes of real world time (still working on this).
    In this space, crews performing alternating actions, instant reactions, and opportunity Extras. No breaks, no resets, just a single Go! until a crew wins.
  • Brash Measurements
    Movement and distances are handled in 5cm standard Units that make eyeballing easy, focusing gameplay on making choices rather than splitting hairs over a few millimiters.
  • Solarpunk Campaign Play

    For seekers, winning the present bout means everything.
    For the town hosting the event, much more could be at stake.
    Blood and Spectacle will color each crew's reputation based on what they do in the arena, adding both immediate effects and long-term repercussions on in-bout resources, future matchmaking, and the overall "health" and "experience" of the crew.

    Pre- and Post- bout choices and results will feed into an overarching narrative structure, affecting the welfare of whole communities as well as the fate of some specific individuals.
    Similarly, your seekers will develop personal ties and relationships, goals, problems and opportunities, all affected by the arena outcomes.

  • One Page Rules (game company) for a great example of how modern miniature games can rethink old conventions to get to a leaner and meaner shape.
