How to blog with itch.io
itch.io lacks a proper blogging function. Still, it's an important tool for a game dev.
Devlogs are nice, but they can only exist as posts related to a specific game project. Having to hunt down a desired post among multiple projects on an itch account is... not ideal.
So this is the next best thing: a "game project" created with the sole purpose of collecting all the "blog posts" that either relate to multiple games, or to none specifically. General game design articles. Analysis of other people's games. Opinion pieces. Personal workflow, philosophy, world view.
And to help it all feel more like a proper blog, it will also have RSS functionality!
Just add
/something.rss
at the end of the project's URL, and inform your readers to use that in their RSS apps.
Turns out that itch.io does have this functionality already baked in, although is not officially advertised.
Enjoy :-)
