Rules Update - 20221117


Update Summary

Many changes have come after the end of the Spider Mines playtest. Some clarifications. Some polishing. And finally I put the time in to start developing the "magic system" accessible through Level Upgrades.

Detailed Change Log

  • slightly modified the role of Leader
  • Slow slot access gives -1d only when a threat is present
  • clarified the functioning of protective items (Armor) within the Save vs Death roll
  • added the Hero Points option to the list of Level Upgrades
  • first draft of the Magic & Doom system, available through Level Upgrades
  • Backtrack procedures are clearer and now benefit from Navigation
  • Forage 1-4 now gives a choice between Uncommon Supplies and +1 Discovery
  • Investigate has been rewritten
  • Face the Odds is now clearer, with "5" producing cumulative results
  • Ref Phase Peril test is a bit more dangerous, adding +1 Peril on both 4 and 5
  • added RC vs RC procedures
  • fixed detail in Ref Reaction 2 - Make Trouble
  • started work on Play Variants

In “Experience and Levels,” am I right in understanding you score only the single best applicable one of Survival, Escape, and Glory? That was what it seemed like from the play report, but it’s not clear to me from the rules.
