Lost & Astray : Living Life one ten-foot pole at a time is a grognardpunk game of vintage fantasy adventuring without the nostalgic baggage.

Players are a motley crew of adventurers that begin play already stranded in the middle of a dangerous delve while trying to survive, escape and snatch treasures. Oh, and don't forget about the quest that brought you here to begin with!

L&A offers the "old school" style of procedural exploration and delving, merciless lethality and fiction-first problem solving, but through modern mechanics that make the game accessible and effortless to learn and play.

What's there for new players?

  • No need for a veteran GM
  • No need for familiarity with "old school" culture, traditions and rules
  • No need for pre-game work and preparation, just pick the game up and play
  • Clear and simple game procedures with a learn-by-playing approach
  • Adventurer death is not Player game-over
  • Adventurer death is a complete loss, with "progress" saved in rogueLite fashion

What's there for veteran players?

  • Old School play with a ton of quality of life improvements
  • Creative problem solving, not number crunching
  • Story emerges from open-ended play, not from a pre-written script
  • XP come from survival, then treasure hunting, then questing
  • Inventory logistics are central but not fiddly
  • Drawing maps is useful and fun
  • Backwards compatible with most D&D material
